What can I do to help?

The most important action everyone can take is to register your support for smoke-free workplaces and public places. It was organized support from people just like you that convinced our elected officials to pass the Freedom to Breathe Act.

It’s quick and easy!   Just click on the “Sign up to Support” button on the left side of this page.  We will send you our newsletter, "The Smoke-Free News" every other month.

Why is it important for us to stay organized?

We have won the battle, but the war with big tobacco is not over.  Don't take the smoke-free air we now enjoy for granted.  There may be an attempt in the 2008 legislative session to weaken the Freedom to Breathe Act.  This has happened in other states that have passed similar laws.  If a bill is introduced to weaken the Freedom to Breathe Act, we will need your support to convince our elected officials to oppose it.

What else can I do?

Citizens for a Smoke-free Goodhue County will work closely with Goodhue County Public Health Service to educate the public about the Freedom to Breathe Act.  The new law took effect October 1, 2007.  You can help with this effort by learning more about the Freedom to Breathe Act and sharing your knowledge with people you know.
